The Good Shepherd Museum makes you discover the captivating story of the Good Shepherd Sisters of Quebec, a community founded in the heart of Quebec City in 1850. Set in a magnificent historic building erected between 1878 and 1887, the Museum also provides a comprehensive analysis on the social history of marginalized women and abandoned children during the 19th and 20th centuries.
On the 1st floor, the Museum tells the story of Marie Fitzbach, founder of the community, and presents Quebec City’s 19th -century social reality.
On the second floor, the exhibition The Good Shepherd Way tells the main realisations of the Good Shepherd Sisters of Quebec including Hôpital de la Miséricorde (1874-1972) and Crèche Saint-Vincent-de-Paul (1901-1972).
On the 3rd floor, visitors will discover the different aspects of the daily life within the Good Shepherd convents before the changes of the 1960s. Throughout their visit, visitors will also be delighted to admire the numerous objects, furniture, photos and works of art of the rich Good Shepherd collection.
