Since its foundation in 1950, the Royal 22e Régiment Museum makes you discover a wide collection covering more than 300 years of military history in Canada and overseas. The main part of the museum's collection is dedicated to the history of the Royal 22e Régiment from the start of WWI to today. Created in 1914 with the motto “Je me souviens” (I remember), this historic Regiment composed mainly of francophones still represents today a great pride for Québécois and Canadians.
Another part of the museum will allow you to see many artifacts from the French and British Regime period comprising replicas of ancient uniforms, the Croix de Saint-Louis, the sword of Chaussegros de Léry, letters and documents signed by Montcalm and Murray, duel pistols, medals, drawings, weapons as well as handwritten notes testifying of the importance of the military life of the past.
The Royal 22e Régiment Museum is located on the site of the famous Citadelle of Quebec which is the most important fortification in North America still occupied by regular troops and the official residence of the Governor General of Canada.
