An Ancestral Naval Port

A member of the Most Beautiful Villages of Québec Association, the parish of Saint-Laurent stands out partly because of its traditional Quebec houses, its numerous farms and its maritime park. Founded in 1679, Saint-Laurent also has numerous centennial buildings, including houses and religious heritage constructions. Built in 1860-1861, the church is surrounded by a presbytery, a convent and a procession chapel, which are all as old as the church itself.

Agriculture and farms are the main activities in this parish. Visitors can find the products grown by these farms at the Old-Port and Sainte-Foy markets in summer. In the village, visitors will also find a maritime port with a quay, a marina and a picnic area. From here, you can admire the boats on the river and the artisans building historic boats using the ancestral method. This trade once made numerous inhabitants wealthy, because of its geographical location, along the St. Lawrence Seaway. In order to preserve this tradition, the Parc maritime became an interpretation centre. You can ask your questions to the experts, they will be happy to answer you!
