Observatoire astronomique de La Découverte

Open year round

Discover the Sky of Québec City

This astronomical observatory is located at the Base de plein air de La Découverte and is managed by the Io astronomy Club of Val-Bélair. Located at nearly 250 metres (800 feet) of altitude, this observatory is a great place where to observe the stars, the galaxies, the nebula and the other planets of our solar system.

Passionate amateur astronomers will teach you the basics of astronomy during one of the thematic activities, the animated evenings or during a special event, like that of the Perseid in August. The observatory is opened year round, on clear sky evenings only and upon reservation. Make sure you wear warm clothes for your observation night, even in summer. Have fun!
