Boischatel

Ancient architecture lovers will be delighted by their visit of Boischatel. The pioneer and founder families houses, like the Vezina and Garneau houses, have been kept in their original architecture and visitors and houses an information centre about the military history as well as an art gallery that gathers the works of local artists. Lessons and workshops in various artistic disciplines are also offered.

If you follow the Montmorency River upstream the Montmorency Falls, you will reach the Resurgences area of the park where you will discover a dozen resurgences of various sizes. In this linear park, hiking trails and different installations are accessible to emphasize the surrounding nature. Along the trails, you will have the chance to admire sinkholes, resurgences (water strings coming from underground springs), natural staircases and different enchanting landscapes, all this accompanied by the sound of the Montmorency River cascades.

A little farther to the north of the city, speleology enthusiasts will be pleased by the Grotte de Boischatel, the longest cave East of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. It is composed of galleries and underground networks, and the speleology club Spéléo-Club de Québec organises regular visits. Boischatel also has two golf courses, that is to say the Club de golf Le Montmorency and the Royal Québec. The latter is a high-class private club that offers 38 holes and is considered as one of the oldest clubs in America.
