When the Saint-Sacrement neighbourhood was created, it was mainly devoted to agriculture. It is only in the 19th century that it became a very sought-after place for the English bourgeoisie. These people started to settle in the area. The well-designed streets, with their charming houses and their flowered front yards, are lined with mature trees that give its charm to the neighbourhood.
This neighbourhood is also home to many institutions, like the Saint-Charles-Garnier College, the Garneau cégep, as well as two hospitals: Saint-Sacrement and Jeffrey-Hale. Numerous businesses are also well established in the area, like restaurants, boutiques and others.
The parc Saint-Sacrement also deserves your attention. Located near the northern border of the neighbourhood (near the cliff), this park allows people to do their favourite outdoor sports winter and summer alike. You can also visit the Saint-Sacrement Church, located in the heart of the neighbourhood. Built between 1920 and 1923, it was destroyed by fire in 1945, but rebuilt immediately after.
