Be charmed by a visit to this majestic building containing the National Assembly of Québec. Situated at the corner of Grande Allée and Honoré Mercier avenue in Québec City, it is one of the oldest parliaments in the world. Built between 1877 and 1886 under the supervision of Eugène-Étienne Taché, the quadrilateral of the Parliament Building surrounds an inside yard. Inspired by the Louvre museum in Paris, a perfect example of the Second Empire style, it owns a character in North America.
The imposing fountain in the principal entrance pays tribute to the first inhabitants, the Amerindians. There, you can marvel at two creations of the sculptor Louis-Philippe Hébert entitled Le pêcheur à la nigogue and La halte dans la forêt portraying an Amerindian family.
The façade of the Parliament Building which put together great political, religious and military individuals constitutes a monument dedicated to the significant events of the history of Canada, from Jacques Cartier to the Confederation in1867.
