Cartier-Brébeuf National Historic Site of Canada

Open from April to September and upon reservation from September to March

A tourist and historic site

This park commemorates the first winter Jacques Cartier spent with its crew in Québec on the winter of 1535-1536, near the village that later became Québec City. This site is also a witness to the establishment of the Jesuit community in Québec in 1625. In the museum, you can see a scale model of a ship like Cartier's, and you can participate in a guided tour and in activities that will make you discover the life of sailors back in those days. Cartier was one of the first ones to establish relationships with the Amerindians. This is why on the premises you can visit an Iroquoian long house and garden. You can also learn more about the way of life of this community as well as their contribution to the colony. In this park, you can also do various activities in summer and winter alike, like biking, hiking, sliding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
